Creating alignment gives us the direction. These four skills help us turn that shared understanding into everyday practice. They are simple enough to use in any classroom, corridor or conversation, but powerful when they become part of the adult muscle memory across a whole school.

Breaking the next step down, reducing uncertainty and giving learners enough support to get started, keep going and experience success.
Calmly bringing the conversation back to what has already been agreed. Clear, predictable, and consistent, without adding shame, argument or unnecessary escalation.
Spotting the small signs that a learner is moving in the right direction and using what we notice to strengthen effort, regulation, engagement and progress.
Working out what is getting in the way and making the route more accessible, while keeping expectations and aspirations high.

Creating alignment
Before we ask adults to do things differently, we need to help them understand why.
These two keynotes are here to help Gwynedd schools create a shared direction across whole teams. Use them with staff to build a common understanding of modern childhood, emotional safety, trauma, and the conditions that children need to engage, learn, and move forward.
They are designed to help adults face the same way, hold high aspirations and make the route to those aspirations more accessible.
